Need a family for a special needs baby

NOT OPEN TO FAMILIES OUTSIDE THE U.S OR NYS FAMILIES.

Baby was born September 11 th, 2008 in Texas. She was a Full Term baby whose weight was 7.8lb. She is African American. She was 41cm in length and her head circumference was 33. She has been diagnosed with skeletal dysplasia type Campomelic Dysplasia Sox 9 Chromosome 17.

Baby was bon with dysplastic hips. The right hip is doing much better than the left hip. The left hip will most likely require surgery at some point.

Baby was born with club feet. She currently has cast on both feet. The Doctor feels that she will most likely not be able to walk and would need a wheelchair as she gets old.

Baby did not pass her hearing screen. She will need to follow up with a hearing specialist with regards to this. The Doctor feels that she would be an ideal candidate for the Cochlear Implant should she continue to have hearing problems.

Baby also has Tracheomalacia. The Doctor describes this as narrowing of the trachea before it splits into each lung. Her breathing sounds gurgled at times. It is believed that when Faith gets her first cold, she will have difficulty being able to breath and would most likely have to have a tracheotomy and be placed on a ventilator. The Doctor did feel that as she got bigger and stronger that the Trach may be able to be removed and she would no longer need that to assist with her breathing. The Doctor did say that they have not done the Tracheotomy at this point because Faith is remarkable stable and breathing room air on her own without difficulty.

Baby does have a feeding tube. She does not have a Cleft Palate. The doctor did feel that she would have the feeding “button” for the rest of her life.

The Doctor feels the most critical of this baby remains her pulmonary issues. The doctor did not know what her life expectancy was nor could they predict. They said that she was doing remarkable well and was currently very stable.

INFORMATION ON THE BIRTH MOTHER AND HER DESIRED ADOPTION PLAN:

The birthmom carried the baby to term. She had a clean pregnancy with no drugs or alcohol. She does visit with the baby at the hospital and had wanted to parent this baby before she was born. But given her medical needs she does not feel she is able to care for her and feels placing her for adoption with a family who feels they can meet her medical needs is in the best interest for her. She has decided that she does want to have on-going contact with this baby after placement. She knows that travel for visits would be difficult for her and the adoptive family. But she would like the adoptive family to leave that possibility open that at some point in her life she could have a visit with her. She would like to receive pictures, letters, exchange emails and have phone contact with the adoptive family. She would like a 2 parent home. Other children are fine but she would prefer that the family not have another special needs child of the same age as this baby. The agency has been able to get most of the fees waived for the placement of this baby. It is estimated that the placement fees would be $3,000 which will cover the social workers case management and any ICPC legal’s needed. There are no fees doe to Hands to Hold. The agency will not be filing for any subsidies or assistance for this baby. The adoptive family may file for that type assistance on their own in their home state. Birth Mom would like to view profiles.

Biracial (CC/AA) Gender Unknown due Dec 29 th in Ala.

Expectant mom is Caucasian, 20 yrs old, green eyes and red hair. She was a in college until the pregnancy but has since dropped out until the baby is born. Her family is aware of her pregnancy and her adoption plan and they support her decision. She is currently in a relationship with an old boyfriend who is not the father of this child and he does support her adoption plan. She does not feel she is ready to be responsible for a newborn child. She is covered under Medicaid and does take prenatal vitamins. A sonogram was not able to determine the gender. She has requested another one but the DR has denied that request as it as it was not a medical necessity. She denies the use of illegal drugs or smoking. She notes that she had a few drinks of alcohol before finding out she was pregnant but none since. She notes that she has taken antidepressants in the past but has not taken any prior to pregnancy or during this pregnancy. She thinks that her paternal grandmother may have had bipolar and depression but she is not sure. She has asthma and has since childhood but it does not effect her in anyway. There are no other mental concerns.

The expectant mom describes the expectant father as African American, brown hair and brown eyes. They worked together at a local restaurant until he found out she was pregnant. Then he left the area and she has not been able to find him since. She has attempted to contact the mother of his other children but she has told this expectant mom that she does not know where he is and he does not pay child support to her for the child they have together. The attorney will terminate his rights accordingly.

The expectant mom is open a single parent or a married traditional family. She wants a family that is open minded and not racist on any level. She will consider families of all religions but does not want a family that is atheist. She would like for the adoptive family to support a semi-open adoption plan with letters and pictures thru the agency. She would like for the adoptive family to leave it open for the child to locate her when they of an adult. Fees for this opportunity are $32,500 which includes everything but finalization and travel. Interested families may email us for a breakdown of the fees. NOT OPEN TO NYS FAMILIES OR FAMILIES OUTSIDE THE U.S

¼ Caucasian ¼ Bangladeshi ½ Hispanic

Gender Unknown due Dec 21 st in TX.

Expectant mom is ½ Caucasian ½ Bangladeshi , 23 yrs old, brown eyes, brown curly hair and medium complexion. This is her 5 th pregnancy. She is parenting 4 small children. She is currently in a relationship but he is not the father of this child. He does support her adoption plan as does her family. She is covered under Medicaid and is receiving prenatal care. She denies the use of alcohol or tobacco with this pregnancy. She does admit to smoking 1 “joint” in her 35 th week of pregnancy and her drug test did come back positive for marijuana. She notes that this was a one time incident and that was all she did during this pregnancy. She did have a sonogram in July but they were not able to determine the gender. She notes that she had allergies and is anemic while pregnant. She had a paternal grandmother who had hepatitis C. There are no mental concerns.

The expectant mom describes the expectant father as Hispanic, 30 yrs old, brown eyes and black hair. She notes that he is very abusive and is afraid of him and he is married which is why they are no longer together. He is aware of the pregnancy. New adoption law that took effect Jan 1, 2008 in Texas does not require an agency to obtain a birth father waiver or a relinquishment of parental rights from the expectant/birth father.  The birth father must sign the Texas Paternity registry within 30 days of the birth or his rights are terminated by default. The attorney will terminate accordingly.

The expectant mom would like a Married Traditional family with or without other children. She will consider all religions. She would like a family who would support a semi-open adoption plan but is willing to discuss an open adoption plan if the adoptive family is comfortable with that arrangement. For a semi-open adoption she would like to receive pictures and updates monthly for the first year thru the agency then 5 times year after that. She would also like to be able to send the child gifts for the family to provide to them when they are age appropriate. The fees for this opportunity are $39,500 for everything but finalization and travel. The expectant mom would like to view profiles on Wed morning. NOT OPEN TO NYS FAMILIES OR FAMILIES OUTSIDE THE U.S
